First love will haunt you in the UK Trailer for French coming of age story Falcon Lake.

The film marks the directorial feature debut for French Canadian actress Charlotte Le Bon (The Promise, Fresh, The Hundred Foot Journey). Filmed in her native Canada, it made it’s world premiere at Cannes Film Festival in 2022, as part of the Director’s Fortnight. Picking up several awards during it’s festival run last year and was nominated for Cesar Awards (Best feature film).

Falcon Lake stars Joseph Engel as Bastien and Sara Montpetit as Chloé. Based on the graphic novel ‘ A Sister‘ (Une sœur) created by by Bastien Vivès, Bastien is a 13 year old boy from Paris who spends his family Summer holidays in Quebec Canada. His family have a cabin around a lake which is considered haunted by a ghost. At the lake he builds up a friendship with a 16 year old girl Chloe who is madly falling in love with her, h must overcome his fears in order to win her heart.

The haziness of the look of the film is gorgeous. It has a gentleness and innocence highlights why this film has won awards, beautiful stuff…

This gorgeous French award-winning directorial debut from Charlotte Le Bon (Anthropoid), Falcon Lake is a haunting coming-of-age tale. Bastien (Joseph Engel, The Crusade) and Chloé (Sara Montpetit, Maria Chapdelaine) spend their summer holiday with their families at a lake cabin in Quebec haunted by a ghost legend. Ready to overcome his worst fears to earn a place in Chloé’s heart, the holiday becomes a turbulent pivotal moment for the young boy. Falcon Lake also stars Monia Chokri (Babysitter).

The film also stars Karine Gonthier-Hyndman and Monia Chokri.

Signature Entertainment will release Falcon Lake on Digital Platforms in the UK and Ireland from 15th May.
